Large 19th Century carved oak box settle
A superb quality large 19th Century Flemish oak box settle that is very well carved, the back having four carved panels depicting tavern scenes, the arms carved with lions with their front paws on a ball, the seat with two lift up lids to reveal storage space, the front of the settle having two carved panels, it’s very unusual to find one of these box settles of this size, profusely carved all over, and the carvings are of very good quality. The provenance is that it came from Great Eastern Manor near Dunmow in Essex. Circa 1880.
