Large19c Regency mahogany bow front chest of drawers
Antique very large early 19C Regency flame mahogany bow front chest of drawers.
Lovely large proportions and opulent styling.....unusual and a bit different.
Fantastic ormolu lions mask handles (which appear original, but we can't be sure) and mellon fluted pilasters.
This is a rare and sought after style of chest, which is very hard to find, particularly five drawers high.
All of the drawers slide freely.
The chest has been altered at some point in its life to allow separation into two halves, helping with transport or getting upstairs.
This piece of antique furniture would look great in the right location, is attractive and aesthetically very pleasing.
Overall dimensions 1315mmW x 615mmD x 1240mmH (610mmH bottom half plus 630mmH top half).
Historical knocks, marks, cracking, imperfections, veneer chips, repairs and alterations as is usual. There are no keys and the locks are untested. The feet have had some historical knocks/damage, but they are all strong and solid. There are a few historical woodworm holes that we have treated for good measure. There is some scratching and marks to the top, but this is old and well polished in, forming part of a great patina.
Please note that this chest is large and heavy. Please make sure before buying that it will fit in and can be maneuvered into the room that it is intended for. The customer will need to provide 1 strong able bodied person to assist our driver carrying the chest.
