Ken Taylor Miniature Watercolour, Summer Fields
Modern Miniature painters are something of a rarity, and Ken Taylor is a British artist who is an superlative example of how well a small painting, executed with skill and a natural affinity to the countryside can have such an impact. We are fortunate to have added to our inventory a small series of paintings of exceptional merit, this one being of a rolling multi coloured vista, capturing all the vibrancy of early summer captured in a tranquil rural landscape , the subtle light illuminating the image has been caught so beautifully, it is one of our favourite pictures and a pleasure to be able to offer it.
Ken Taylor, British Artist (b. 1939) - Miniature Signed Gouache painting - Summer Poppies and Rapeseed landscape. Image 9 x 7 cms, Frame 26 x 22 cms.
Condition: Ready to hang, perfectly balanced to set off the image inside the mount it is double thick boards with canted edges inside a matt soft gold frame.
Surprisingly Ken Taylor (b 1939) is classified as a self-taught artist albeit a trained graphic designer with a long term (20 year) background in the advertising industry, he has for many years specialised in miniature gouache paintings. Born in Liverpool, in 1939, he was educated there, trained as a graphic designer then worked in advertising agencies in Liverpool for 20 years. Taylor made his home in the 1970's in a small village located near Oswestry.
It was the encouragement of other professional artists that led Taylor to push his artistic abilities towards miniature paintings. The majority of his miniature works are made with gouache and painted onto a black mount board. Much of the artist’s inspiration has come from the surrounding seasonal changes, found along country lanes and areas around his home.
Ken Taylor’s work has been sold worldwide and has many collectors. He has exhibited and sold many works at exhibitions, including the Hilliard Society of Miniaturists and the Royal Academy, London. Buchanan and Laing Galleries are a private client business. Appointments can be made by arrangement via email.
The Company is a distance selling business and as such abides by all current HM Government consumer regulations that apply to pre-owned, second hand, antique items sold online.
We welcome purchases from all over the world, however, we do not take any responsibility or pay for import charges and taxes that non UK purchasers may accrue.
