A fine English impressionist still life oil on canvas by Harold Riding RCA. The work shows a vase of roses in a library setting with the sun shining through the window. The painting is by Harold Riding who exhibited between 1926 and 1969 he had studied at the Manchester school of art and exhibited in the north at Liverpool and Manchester, he was heavily involved with the Royal Cambrian Academy and a full member and this may be one of the works he exhibited there. The painting is in the original frame which appears to be a reconditioned Victorian one probably regilded etc by the artist. The whole is in excellent condition, with the work professionally cleaned and ready to hang. The painting is a lovely example of English impressionist work and with a huge decorative appeal. C.1940.
