Japanese Kutani plate - Taisho period
Very pretty Japanese Kutani plate from the Taisho period (1920's), marked Takigawa. Decorated in overglaze pastels and gold with a scene from the '47 Samurai', one of the most popular Japanese Kabuki plays based on a true story. Marked Takigawa in Japanese kanji characters using overglaze gold on black.
Good condition - some rubbing commensurate with age.
Size: 18.5 cm diameter.
