This beautiful small highly decorative chest is of Indian origin and would have been used as a marriage or dowry chest. It is made completely from solid teak. The sides are panelled and finished with raised mouldings. The front, sides and top are profusely inlaid with brass and copper in exotic floral inlays. The chest has a carrying handle to each end and the corners have been strengthened with ornate brass brackets and the hinged lid can be fastened with a matching hasp. This small piece of antique furniture is in excellent original condition.
