A bold and impressive late Victorian period burr walnut sideboard. Of fine construction by the renowned retailer Charles Jenner and Co of Edinburgh. With a solid oak carcas and beautiful burr walnut veneers, this sideboard is Scottish cabinet making at its finest. The style is transitional with influences of traditional Victorian, Art Nouveau and moving towards Edwardian. The upright back has a shelf supported by stylised upstands. The main body of the sideboard houses a pair of cupboard doors which flank a long central drawer sitting over an open recess. The cupboard doors are decorated with finely carved detailing and are fitted with stylised copper hinge plates. Each cupboard opens to reveal a shelved interior. The whole piece has canted fluted corners and stands on solid bun feet. This sideboard has a lovely rich colour and warm patina. It is offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home. It is a real statement piece.
