Huge Chinese Canton Famille Rose Bowl. 19th c.
Huge Chinese Canton Famille Rose Bowl. C.1860.
An extremely large Chinese Canton dish or bowl with beautiful enamelled decoration, illustrated with various family scenes and floral scenes with butterflies, bats and birds, all beautifully painted, the decoration on this large piece is wonderful.
As shown in the photographs there is a stapled repair to the base which has been carried out with tremendous skill, this does not affect the strength or soundness of this handsome bowl.
There is some natural wear to the gilt around the deep rim of the dish but the colours generally are absolutely wonderful, enhancing the skill of the illustrator who carefully painted the figures, birds, insects, bats and flowers etc.
Dimensions : 18.75 inches diameter and 5 inches tall.
