A magnificent Harlequin set of 6 Regency mahogany dining chairs, comprising four single chairs with brass inlaid top rails, rope twist central rail and drop-in seats on turned legs united by ‘X’ stretchers plus an armchair and a matching single chair with turned legs united by ‘X’ stretchers. They stand on ring turned legs to the front and have out-swept sabre legs to the back. The drop-in seats have been newly recovered in a gold self patterned brocade fabric. A lovely rich colour with a warm patina to the mahogany. Dating from circa 1820.

Solid and sturdy. Some old mends to the top rails (see photos). Newly recovered and newly webbed over existing upholstery which was in good condition. Some old worm holes to the back of the seat rail of the carver chair which has been treated with worm killer as a precaution.
