This is a beautifully detailed hand painted and enamelled large lidded jar from the Imari region dating from around 1870. The jar is extensively enamalled and painted with pretty blooms in blue, turquoise, ironstone red and yellow ochre. It also has winged deer type animals. The jar has six character mark to the base in red has a later turned mahogany lid. It is a substantial and imposing piece measuring 29 cm high and 25 cm in diameter.
