Very pretty Grainger cup and saucer, c.1825, with gadrooned rim and spurred loop handle. Decorated with pale and dark blue lozenges suspended amongst very ornate gilded decoration with a small blue dotted band under the gilded rim, a blue and gold band running inside the rim and a blue and gold stylised star in the centre/base. Gilded pattern number to the saucer 1566. Similar cups are illustrated in Berthoud's Compendium Of British Cups, plates 731 and 732.

The cup measures 5.5cm (2 1/8") high, 9.2cm (3 5/8") rim to rim and 11.5cm (4 1/2") rim to handle. The saucer measures 14.5cm (5 5/8") wide and 2.5cm (1") high. Condition is very good with no damage or restoration and very little surface wear, just a little wear to the high points of the rim of the cup.
