Good Victorian tall mahogany open bookcase
This is a really good open bookcase. The bookcase is Victorian dating to around 1880 or so. It is top quality and incredibly clean for a piece from this period. The bookcase is made in mahogany. The bookcase is inlaid with boxwood stringing to the frieze and risers, with boxwood inlay to the leading edges of the top. There are two inlaid oval cartouches to the top of each riser. The shelves too are polished and reeded which is always a sign of quality.
The shelves are adjustable.
This was a top quality piece in its day and would have been incredibly expensive. It is a very handsome piece and will look wonderful in a principal room or home library filled with books and objet d'art.
The bookcase is in good condition. The mahogany is rich. No sign of worm.
The bookcase is 35 inches wide and 49 inches high and 15 inches deep.
Good thing.
