Gillows Rosewood Chiffonier Bookcase

Absolutely stunning Rosewood Chiffonier Bookcase by renowned cabinet makers Gillow of Lancaster.
To the top of the upper section is an exquisite brass gallery
in the shape of acanthus leaves very typical of the regency period. There are two fine quality cast brass decorative mounts with tulip design, again typical of this era.
The lower bookcase has unusual brass inlaid stars to the frieze rail.
To either side there are wonderful turned pilasters with carved tulips to the centre. To the bottom there is a generous reel and bead moulding to the front and sides. A further sign of Gillow manufacture are the jelly moulded front feet the rear being of turned design.
The bookcase has two adjustable shelves. The back being grained to resemble rosewood, for this would have been hidden by books therefore not requiring true veneer.
This comes in two pieces for ease of transport. To confirm this piece is by Gillow it is stamped to the centre back of the upper section. This is a truly fantastic historic piece of genuine regency antique furniture.
