This is such an unusual hanging corner cupboard. The cupboard is Georgian, dating to around 1800. It is made in pitch pine with shaped shelves behind a pair of bowed doors with shelves above. What is amazing is the oil painting on the front. There is real age in the painting and if the painting isn't itself Georgian, and it may well be, it is certainly Victorian. The painting is of a Harem or perhaps Temple scene. There are groups of men and women in medieval costumes before a seated Gentleman who is surveying the scene. I like the little bits of detail, the dog lapping at water, the guard watching above, the whispering courtesans, the man in medieval armour. It is beautifully done. The artist had real skill. I wish it were signed. Imagine how hard it is to keep perspective on a curved surface like this, especially when the black and white marble squares reach out to the viewer at the bottom. The effect is wonderful.

The cabinet is in good condition but it is definitely shabby chic. The colours are vivid but it has all the charm of age with flaking paint to the top and bottom of the cupboard and age marks and stains as you would expect.

This is a seriously beautiful furnishing piece in the right shabby chic/classical antique interior. This is a beautiful thing.

The corner cabinet is 41 inches high and the cabinet runs 15 inches along each wall from the corner point and is 15 inches deep.
