A very interesting example of Georgian silk needlework, with a large central floral motif and peripheral small images name and date similar to a sampler. The needlework has a border of forget-me-nots and the central image is a large spray of flowers including roses. The most interesting aspects of the needlework at the two animals in the top corners, a leopard and a squirrel both titled and very unsual to see on a needlework. The work is dated and named below the floral spray as 'Maria Linley 1809'. The sampler is in the original carved and gilded frame. The work has faded quite a bit and has some discolouration but is fundamentally in good condition and so very unsual.
