Georgian Mahogany Small Tea Side Table
A fine quality George III period mahogany small fold-over top tea table, of good original colour and patina. Intended to be used as a side table when closed, the top opens out supported on a gate-leg mechanism to the rear to form a tea table. There is a single cock beaded and oak lined drawer with brass ring handle to the frieze, and the table is raised on elegant tapering cabriole legs terminating in pad feet.
Width 26″ (66cm) Depth (closed) 13″ (33cm) Depth (open) 26” (66cm) Height 29″ (74cm)
Condition and Details of Restoration
This item is in original structural condition. The polish has been revived, by our own craftsmen, by hand in the traditional manner There are minor old marks under the polish as might be expected on a table of this age, but nothing serious or unsightly in our opinion the photographs are representative. The brass handle is a replacement dating from the early 19th Century there are no unsightly marks left by any previous handle. As is most often the case on this type of table of this period, the hinges are a little worn but the table is perfectly stable once closed or open.
