George Jones Majolica Strawberry Server Dish
Superb majolica strawberry serving dish by George Jones dating from c.1875. Comprises a large oval serving dish with textured criss cross background representing a tea towel or table cloth with moulded folds around the edge complete with red 'stitched' edge. Moulded strawberry leaves are scattered all over. On either side is a round loop handle forming a cup to hold a separate double spouted, twin handled cream jug and sugar bowl. These are in a lovely pink with applied strawberry leaves and a turquoise inner.
The dish measures 14 1/4" long, 9" wide and 2 1/4" high. The creamer is 3 1/2" high and 3 1/2" wide across the handles. The sugar bowl is 2 7/8" high and 3" wide. Condition is very good but there is a fine repair line to one of the dish handles. No other other or restoration and surface wear is very light.
