George Jones Majolica Strawberry Server Dish


Lovely large majolica strawberry serving basket by George Jones with large double compartment for holding the berries and 2 smaller bowls on either side for cream and sugar. The edges are formed as tree branches and it has a large "branch" carry handle with moulded leaves and raised up on 3 feet also moulded as twisted branches. The inside of tray has a textured finish with the classic George Jones turquoise ground with moulded strawberry flowers and leaves spreading over the surface.
Impressed mark to the base and diamond registration mark for 1881. Design
referenced as model number 3300, figure 70, page 51, George Jones Ceramics 1861-1951, Robert Cluett.
It measures 11 3/4" by 11 1/5" wide and 7 1/2" high. Condition is excellent with no damage or restoration. There is a small firing line across the rim where one of the smaller bowls joins the basket and a few underglaze colour runs, all original and just mentioned for completeness. Payment is accepted by bank transfer, card payments (via an online invoice, I'm afraid we cannot take payments over the telephone), Paypal and UK personal cheque.
