Imposing George III oak tack cupboard c.1800. Designed to provide plenty of useful storage for clothing and riding gear which could be hung from the rows of wooden pegs in the two door top section. On a separate base with five drawers below four fixed panels, the top of the base being open to allow for extra hanging height. A fine looking example of the form, with a deep moulded cornice, ogee shaped raised and fielded panels, turned mahogany quarter columns, a good spread of brass and bracket feet to the front and rear. Superb quality with panelled oak sides and rear and oak drawer linings.
The cupboard top could be easily fitted with a hanging rail or shelves if preferred, to make a kitchen or housekeeper’s cupboard.
