A George I Walnut Kneehole Desk.
A lovely desk totally made of Walnut. Quarter sawn burr Walnut top with herringbone banding / stringing and cross banding. Cross grained mouldings throughout. The drawers also burr walnut. All original handles and locks. The central well has a small drawer above a cupboard.
The shaped bracket feet are also all original ( although in photo one foot does look paler in colour .... it isn't) The linings to the drawers are made of thin oak with pine bottoms. They are lined in blue sugar paper as were many pieces of 18th and 19th century drawers due to it being acid free....so avoiding staining from the wood in damp atmospheres.
A charming desk all original, the most beautiful honey faded rich walnut colour and sensibly priced....
