French Painted Carved King Size Double Bed 1900
This is a good clean French bed. It is a king size and takes a standard UK king size mattress: 60 inches wide and 78 inches long.
The French bed is very decorative and heavy. It was made around 1900 and is wonderfully carved with turned pillars, a carved crest to the headboard and carved floral decoration to the footboard. The crest is monogrammed J B. The bed has turned finials and feet. It is painted white and this may be the original paint.
The bed has iron side rails and brackets and splits for moving.
As with all rail beds you will need to get slats to run over the rails to form a base for your mattress. These are readily available from any builders merchants at little cost.
This is a handsome period bed. I am also selling a pair of shabby chic French bedside cabinets that came from the same house so do check out this other listing.
