This is a decorative and primitive chestnut bench, originating from provincial France, circa 1830, in excellent original condition.

Description
This is a decorative and primitive chestnut bench, originating from provincial France, circa 1830, in excellent original condition. The bench features a chestnut serpentine shaped seat, which boasts a stunning grain & burr configuration. The bench stands on four splayed chamfered beech legs, which are solid in joint and support the bench (beech was commonly used in legs due to its strength and resilience to the environment). The bench will seat up two persons. Originating from the provenances, it would have been used in a rustic setting as either a bench or low table in an eating area. It is a completely original and highly decorative item, which would be ideal as either a coffee table or decorative item in a hallway.
This item would look great in a variety of rooms from the hallway, kitchen to the living room or bedroom at the foot of a bed.
The item boasts a mellow brown chestnut colour. As it boasts the original polish, it has a fantastic colour and patination this can only be achieved through age and years of care and cleaning it has received.
