French 19th C Ebonised and Ormolu Bijouterie Table French Napoleon III Ebonised Bijouterie Table %%alt5%% %%alt6%%
An original French ebonised Bijouterie table, with original finishes and immaculate interior of padded and button down silk. Dating to approximately 1850, this is an unusual form , a hinged and locked top case mounted on delicate turned pillars above two open shelves, finished with four splayed short legs.

The top is glazed with a thick bevelled edge plate, the lid is inset with brass stringing and hinged on the rear edge. There is the original lock and the key is present. Inside the case is a rich red silk padded display space, the look and feel of this piece implies an item of antique furniture intended to show off valuable small items. The edges of the lid and shelves are finished with a good ormolu mount, the corners of the case are also sporting ormolu pierced panels.

The piece stands 78 cm high and the top is maximum 46 cm wide and 34 cm front to back. the case has a depth internally of 5 cm.

The condition of the piece is excellent. Please note we have put the piece through restoration, albeit restoration with a light touch, some of the brass stringing needed resetting , the legs were loose and needed tightening up, overall the japaning needed cleaning and polishing, all of which has been done without taking away the patina and age of the piece. The inside needed no more than a brush and vacuum.

Please Note this is a delicate piece of antique furniture, the top case is heavy and the legs are delicate, it is not designed to be moved around. Once its been homed we would urge the owner to take care if it needs moving.
