Freemasons Cabinet. Table top Chest.
This is a unique, possibly ceremonial, antique Masonic Lodge Table top Cabinet.
The face of the drawers are inlaid with marquetry of different woods and feature some of the symbols significant to Freemason organisations - the Square and Compass Pillars of Solomon's Temple, 6 pointed Stars and Sun burst designs.
The lock to the bottom drawer works and there is a key.
The case is of mahogany and the front is faced with boxwood columns either side and various other woods have been used for marquetry and inlay, including rosewood, mahogany, boxwood and sycamore.
Drawer arrangements - 3 at the top, then 2 and a full width lower drawer.
The drawer linings are original, and of sycamore.
Interestingly, the lock has been offset from the centre to allow for the square and compass design to be centrally placed with pillars either side. Also underneath the lower drawer there are pencil sketches of the marquetry designs for the drawer fronts
Very good condition throughout.
The sycamore drawer linings have had some worm, but now totally inactive and the holes are filled ALL OF OUR ITEMS INCLUDE FREE UK MAINLAND DELIVERY.
