Frederick T.Blampey 1870-1936 Watercolour Portrait
We are offering for sale this pretty and large oval watercolour by the artist Frederick Thomas Blampey, who has signed the painting on the lower right hand side. The painting depicts a young lady wearing a picture hat with a blue ribbon band to match her blue dress. She has light brown hair and is holding a bunch of large mop headed chrysanthemums in autumnal colours.
Frederick Thomas Blampey was born in Fore Street, St. Marychurch, Torquay in Devon in 1870, the son of a photographer and the youngest of a large family. By 1899 when he was married in Hampstead, he was living in the London area and in the 1911 Census he was living in London and gave his profession as Professional Artist. He died in Edmonton in 1936.
Other than the above, we have been unable to find further biographical information but have found 3 auction records in recent years. There was a watercolour portrait sold by Christie's, another watercolour sold in Sweden and an oil in the USA.
The painting is sold in its lovely original gilt frame with ribbon surmount and its original mount. It is ready to hang.
