Framed William Simson RSA Oil on Canvas Painting
Artist - William Simson (1798-1847), a Scottish painter and member of the Royal Scottish Academy
Title - Untitled
Details - Oil on canvas painting of two horses. Not signed or titled that we can see, although please note that we have not removed it from the frame. Glazed and framed in an antique wooden frame with Sotheby's Belgravia provenance on the back (it was sold as lot 270 in November 1977). There is a plaque with the artist's name on the front of the frame. There is also a previous owner's address sticker on the back.
Condition - Overall in good condition with good colours, but please note that we have not removed the painting from the frame and so have not checked the area underneath the frame. There is some slight cracking to the paint in places and some dustiness and paint flecking. The frame has some scuffing, knocking and wear as might be expected ad there is some cracking to the gesso of the gilt border.
The approx. measurements are as follows:
Visible Image Size - 36cm by 28cm
Frame - 49cm by 39cm, 5.5cm deep. Further images are available. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries. Viewing is welcome, but please contact us before travelling as we are only open by appointment.
We can arrange delivery of both smaller items and furniture - please contact us for details and a quote. Customers are also welcome to use their own couriers if preferred.
