Fine Sheraton Revival Bookcase
A fine quality and substantial mahogany and inlaid bookcase which we attribute to Edwards & Roberts of London. The top section having a swan neck pediment above the marquetry and pen-worked frieze. The two astragal glazed doors with rosewood cross banding between boxwood stringing and open to reveal 3 mahogany faced and boxwood stung adjustable shelves. The lower section having 2 useful marquetry inlaid drawers above 2 cupboard doors with beautifully inlaid panels. The stiles, ends ,sides and plinth all have kingwood banding between boxwood lines and the whole made from the finest figured mahogany with wonderful pen work. Condition- Very good with brass retailer’s plaque for S &H Jewell of Holborn, London. Dimensions:- Height…94.5’’/ 240cm. Width…49’’/ 125cm. Depth of Base…21’’/ 54cm. Depth of Top…13’’/ 33cm.
