DimensionsThis is as good a side or fold over tea table as you will see. It shrieks quality. The table dates to the reign of George III around 1800. The table would have been made for the very smartest London addresses of the time. It is almost as crisp today as when it was first made.
The table is made in figured mahogany and is D shaped. Look at the curve to the front frieze. Look at the crisp box wood and ebony stringing to the leading edges and fine boxwood lines around the central panel. The legs are tapered with cartouche to the top and banded inlay to the legs.
This is a fold over table. The back legs swings out. It has its original brass hinges. The top again is in figured mahogany and the colour is rich.
This is a beautiful side table. It is in very good condition. Minor marks as you would expect. Legs solid. No sign of damage or repair or worm.
If you have a period drawing room, this will look stunning against a wall with a lamp on top to illuminate the golden mahogany. This is a quality period table and would cost four figures and then some in a top London showroom.
The table is 36 inches wide and 29 inches high and 18 inches deep and 36 inches deep with the top opened out.
