Figural Fish Knives and Forks In Silver Plate

A truly rare and exciting find. The quality of the presentation box suggests quality contents made from solid Mahogany and a burl Walnut panel to the top inlaid with a shield shaped cartouche, boxes for the storage of cutlery are usually much more basic.
Once the box is opened, the finest quality silver plated fish knives and forks are found within, six of each. The fabulous novelty fish handles are what makes these outstanding. The engraving to the knives and forks is exquisite, the backside of each has a single monogram "S".
Each piece is fully marked by the top-notch silversmith, Martin Hall and Co.
The interior of the lid is marked by the original retailer.
Excellent condition with minor wear to the box. The case measures 14 3/4" x 10 3/4" x 2 1/4" thick. Victorian in era, dating to around 1880.
