This is a really grand antique leather screen dating from the early Victorian era, circa 1840. The leather has a wonderful rich colour and is superbly hand painted with this wonderful historic scene of an old Georgian village. The leather is in really great order bearing in mind its age, there is an old repaired section to the bottom corner of the far right panel, sympathetically done and not really noticeable.
The screen is of a grand scale measuring over 2 metres tall (206 cm high). Each panel is 59 cm wide so this covers a substantial area. This is a really good example of its type and makes a really dramatic impact in any situation.
