A fine pair of rare Chinese porcelain mythical toad ornaments in perfect condition dating from around 1870. The toads are beautifully modelled with characterful expressions and raised detail to the deep green glazed backs. The Chinese toad is considered a popular feng shui charm for prosperity and such toads modelled as these rare examples were considered historically as money gathering toads. The toads are seated on an ochre and brown glaze rock and measure 12.5 cms high.
