A quality front door press button for an electric bell. It is made of brass with a ceramic central button. There are two screws which would have the wires attached, and I suspect it would have been wired to a battery. However because of the insulation to the connectors I think it could also be operated by mains electric.
I have not checked it working either by battery or mains so I would advise that it is installed by someone who knows what they are doing, and who are a qualified electrician.

Good condition. The diameter of the front is just short of 4 inches. The depth is 2 and a half inches.
