An Edwardian rose brass Suffolk latch stamped Gibbons of Wolverhampton.
Gibbons of Wolverhampton were established as lock and key makers in Wolverhampton in 1670 by Thomas Gibbons. By 1750 James Gibbons had taken over and by the second quarter of the 19th Century they had moved into door fittings and Architectural metalwork based at St John's works of Church lane Wolverhampton. Please refer to Jim Evan's article entitled 'A Gazetter of Lock and Key makers' which gives a fascinating look at Gibbons this can be found on Wolverhampton history and heritage society's website .
Please note everything is here except the catch which is attached to the door jamb. This is in the process of being fabricated and a new one made.
