Exceptional Antique Four Pedestal Dining Table

An exceptional and very large antique Regency mahogany four pedestal dining table of outstanding quality and scale. The table is beautifully constructed in finely figured mahogany with a rich warm colour and superb natural grain throughout the top.
The table stands on four elegant turned pedestal bases with reeded sabre legs terminating in original brass caps and castors. Each pedestal supports a section of the table and the ingenious extending mechanism allows the table to be used at various lengths depending on the number of leaves inserted.
The underside retains the original stamped locking hinges marked Bullock, Tonks & Bedington Patent, a well known Birmingham manufacturer of high quality iron fittings during the Regency period. The pedestals are numbered I, II, III and IV so the table can be assembled correctly.
With three additional leaves the table extends to an impressive length and can comfortably seat up to twenty four people, making it ideal for a large dining room, boardroom or grand entertaining space.
The proportions, quality of the mahogany and elegant Regency design make this a particularly impressive example of an early nineteenth century extending dining table.
Condition
Very good antique condition with light age related wear. The table is structurally sound and presents beautifully with a rich colour and patina.
