A top notch set of Victorian desk postal or letter scales, these would have furnished the desk-top of a very wealthy household around 1870. The top is beautifully decorated with brass in Tortoise Shell and the plinth below is the opposite, with Tortoise Shell into brass, always a sign of quality.

The balance is singed by the very famous London retailer, Leuchars of Piccadilly, makers to the Royal family and winning prizes in the Great Exhibition of 1851 and the International Exhibition of 1862, winning a further silver medal at the International Exposition of 1867 in Paris.

Superb condition, this heirloom set is ready to adorn the finest of desks. 8" x 5 3/4" x 3 1/2" tall.
