English 6ft Oak George II Box Settle (c.1730)
This is a superb quality antique 6ft English low back oak George II box settle (circa 1730 - 1760).

This is a superb quality antique 6ft English low back oak George II box settle (circa 1730 - 1760) believed to have originated from English. The settle is constructed of solid oak panelled timbers. The back consists of five raised fielded inset panels. Further fielded panels are also visible to the bottom of the seat and the sides of the settle. The two lids in the seat are hinged with hand beaten forged iron hinges. The inside of the box settle is ideal for storing shoes and wellies in the hallway. The settle boasts down swept shaped oak arms to the sides, pegged construction. The settle features the original polish and patination and thus the colour of this settle is superb. Interestingly, this settle was used in a Sherlock Holmes TV series that was filmed in Leek, on the Staffordshire moorlands in Derbyshire!
This item would look superb in a variety of rooms from the hallway, dining room or kitchen. This item would certainly grace any home and a great investment, as they are an extremely functional. So don't miss out your chance to own a lovely piece of antique furniture.
Condition Report
The item is in excellent condition and is commensurate with its age. Nominal old use marks to the leading edges but nothing significant considering the age of the item. The settle has been strengthened with steel rods from the front to the back under the seat a very long time ago and there the back panels have been tightened a very long time ago. The iron hinges are in good working order. Free of woodworm, solid in joint and ready to use.

A 7-day “no quibble” return policy (from the date you receive the item) is available if you are not happy with this item. You will be given a refund excluding the delivery cost as long as the item is returned in the same condition. The buyer is not required to cover the cost of returning the item if the item is returned at the point of delivery. If the item is delivered and left with the customer, a return fee will apply (which is the same cost as the delivery fee). We only will collect returns using our own specialist furniture delivery company. We will not accept returns via a courier service (due to experience of damaged items in transit). This refund policy only applies to deliveries to the UK.
