Embroidery Napoleon at Pont d’Arcole

This is a good 19th century woolwork embroidery picture depicting Napoleon at Pont d’Arcole.
The French battle scene during the Napoleonic wars depicts the officer holding the Tricolor and advancing into Arcole across the fortified bridge.
Boneparte at the Pont d’Arcole is a famous oil painting executed in 1796 by the French artist Antoine Jean Gros. It depicts an episode during the Battle of Arcole in November 1796 with General Napoleon Bonaparte leading the troops to storm the bridge.
The tapestry is in excellent condition retaining good strength of colour and is embroidered with fine detail.
This is in what appears to be its original gilt frame with a sponge effect gilt mount.
Provenance: From the residual contents of Scorborough Lodge from the Estate of Stephen Thornley-Wilson.
The embroidery measures 45 cms by 40 cms overall including the frame.
