Edwardian Silver Plated Salver, Walker & Hall 1907
This is a top quality large Edwardian Silver Plated Salver bearing the Irish MacNamara family crest. The salver stands on three scrollwork feet and has a flowing scalloped rim with flower and foliage decoration. The centre of the salver is engraved with the MacNamara family crest of an arm in armour holding a sword above the motto "Firmitas In Coelo" which translates as "Strength In Heaven."
The salver is made by famous silversmiths and electroplaters Walker & Hall in Sheffield and dates to 1907. Walker & Hall employed a date letter system for their silver plate, which enables it to be dated to an exact year.
Condition is very good with no dings or dents, no plate loss and just the superficial surface wear that has to be expected after over 110 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The salver is 32cm / 12.5" in diameter and stands 3.5cm / 1.4" high. It weighs a very substantial 964g / 34oz.
The marks on the underside are nice and clear to read. The show the W & H in a pennant trademark for Walker & Hall, the Greek letter omega, which is the date letter for 1907 and then the text Walker & Hall, Sheffield, England.
Because of the weight and value, shipping in the UK is £14 by Royal Mail Special Delivery Parcel Post.
