Edwardian Silver Cuff Links, A.J Cheshire, 1905
Here we have an attractive set of Edwardian Sterling Silver Cuff Links. The chain linked cuff links are convex ovals with a delicate floral pattern engraved diagonally across one side of each link. There are no initials or personalisation of any kind. They come supplied in a modern gift box.
The cuff links were made by Alfred James Cheshire and assayed in Chester in 1905. Alfred Cheshire was a jeweller working from premises in Tenby Street North, Birmingham from the 1880s through to the 1920s. Although Birmingham based, his pieces are almost exclusively assayed in Chester. He made fine quality brooches and cuff links and also produced fobs for watch chains.
Condition is very good, with no dings or dents and just the superficial surface wear that you would anticipate after nearly 120 years of good service. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
Each oval is 1.8cm by 1cm and each pair extends 2.6cm. The set, unboxed, weighs in at 10.4g of solid Sterling Silver.
The hallmarks, on the backs of the links, are nice and clear to read. They show the lion passant for Sterling Silver, the sword and three wheatsheaves assay mark for Chester, the script date letter E for 1905 and the A.J.C makers' mark for Alfred James Cheshire.
Shipping in the UK is £6 by Royal Mail Tracked 24.
