Edwardian Mahogany windows seat chaise longue
This is a wonderfully elegant window seat or side sofa. It is Edwardian and dates to around 1910. The seat is made in mahogany with tapering legs. The legs are shaped with reeded detailing and a carved cartouche at the top.The arms are splayed and padded with intricate fretwork between. The seat has what may be the original fabric covering. This is clean for age and the padding is firm.
The seat is in good condition. No sign of damage other than a small bit of loss to the fretwork - see photo. Joints good. No worm.
This is a very elegant seat. It would look good in a principal room against a wall or in a window alcove but equally would look good drawn up to the end of bed.
Good elegant furnishing piece.
The window seat is 43.5 inches wide and 21.5 inches deep and the back is 28 inches high. The seat is 17 inches high.
