This lovely antique sideboard dates from c.1905 and is constructed from mahogany, some solid, some veneered over solid wood. The sideboard has lovely decorative inlay around the top and front. It consists of two central drawers with bow fronts, flanked on either side by a single-door cupboard. The cupboard on the left-hand side has a removable wooden shelf inside, and the cupboard on the right-hand side has no shelves - this cupboard has a small hole in the bottom where possibly a revolving bottle holder would once have sat. This is now missing. The sideboard has a short shaped back rail with three metal fixings - we believe the sideboard would originally have had a brass back rail above but this is now missing. The drawers retain their original metal ring handles. Both the cupboards retain their locks and escutcheons, and two keys are present which work both the locks. The sideboard is supported on six elegant tapering square legs with shaped feet.

Condition Overall this handsome piece is in good usuable condition, with some wear consistent with age and use. There is some scuffing and wear to the woodwork as might be expected, and the piece is overall faded. As is mentioned above both the back brass rail, and bottle holder that would have been inside the cupboard, are missing. The top has some patchy fading and some loss to the string inaly. It also has some dark waxy residue in places and some scratching. There is some slight wood shrinkage cracking in places.
