A rather special fully hallmarked Edwardian 9 carat rose gold locket which was assayed at Chester in 1909.The locket suspends from a splendid 18 inch 9 carat rose gold link bar necklace. Both items are in superb condition. The front is embellished with ivy leaves which frame a heart cartouche. Ivy symbolises fidelity, everlasting love and deep friendship. The back is decorated with stylized acanthus leaves which have been used to convey the desire for everlasting life since ancient times. The interior contains the original frames and space for two photographs. The catches and hinges work perfectly on both items.
