Edwardian Floral Vase, Eleanor Tosen, R. Doulton

Here we have a beautiful Edwardian Stoneware Vase. The bottle shaped vase has a chocolate brown circular foot, superb hand painted roses on a beige background and an olive green neck.
The vase was painted by Eleanor Tosen for Royal Doulton at their famous Lambeth factory in London and dates to c.1901/02. Eleanor Tosen was one of a group of hugely talented, mostly female artists who worked for Doulton at Lambeth in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The vase is also stamped Art Union Of London. This was an organisation that ran from 1837 to 1912. Members paid a subscription each year and the Union used this money to purchase paintings, sculptures, ceramics and objets d'art which were then distributed to the members by means of an annual lottery. Doulton supplied items to the Art Union between 1885 and 1902.
Condition is very good, with no chips or cracks and just the superficial surface wear that you would expect after over 120 years of use. Please make sure to view all the photographs.
The vase stands 26cm / 10.2ins high and is 10cm / 3.9ins across at its widest point. It weighs 979g / 34.5oz.
The underside has the usual plethora of stamps that you find on Doulton items of this period. It has the Royal Doulton, England stamp, which dates it to 1901 or later, the Art Union of London stamp, which dates it to no later than 1902. the Doulton & Slaters Patent stamp for the technique used on the body and the ttt stamp for artist Eleanor Tosen.
