Early Georgian Walnut Lowboy / Side Table
A small exquisitely proportioned George Ⅰ walnut lowboy/side table. The walnut veneered top has the classic details of that period - 4 slices of the same block of wood are placed together to form a pattern, showing off the decorative nature of the walnut. The top is then finished with crossbanding and line inlays.
The single drawer has oak linings and a later brass handle that copies the original. The table stand on cabriole legs and pad feet. Such walnut antique tables will always have small repairs the back feet have carefully replaced pads.
This charming table, glowing with the colour and age of the walnut period, is a little gem. Circa 1720
