We have for sale a slightly unusual Coalport small tankard or christening cup.

This attractively simple small porcelain tankard or christening cup is in the form of a heavily potted small tankard and is beautifully decorated with floral bouquets with a gilded rim to the top and a gilded band to the foot and completed with a moulded gilded handle. The piece probably dates to somewhere around 1815-1820 or so when John Rose was experimenting with glazes and pastes because the base carries some firing faults and the glaze shows a little bit of fine craqueleur in places, particularly the base.

The tankard is (7cm) high, 3 inches in diameter to the base and is in a very good condition other some minor losses of decoration and a stain to the inside of the rim. The stain is visible in images 1, 4 and 5.
