Early 19th. Century Oak & Inlaid Dresser and Rack Oak Welsh Dresser
An early 19th. Century Oak and Inlaid Dresser and Rack, the boarded rack with a quatrefoil pierced ogee shaped frieze having a most unusual cut out anvil to the centre above three ogee edged shelves and flanked by moulded and inlaid pilasters with walnut semi columns, the top of the base with a single line inlay, the base with three cockbeaded drawers between inlaid pilasters above one true and two false drawers flanked by panelled doors with fan inlays to the top spandrels, the whole raised on shaped bracket feet

Ca. 1830

Height:80”,204 cms. Width: 66”, 168cms. Depth:18.5”,48 cms

Note: The anvil at the centre of the frieze is most unusual and may denote the ownership of this rather special dresser and could also represent the influence of the nearby slate quarries on the design. This piece probably comes from Blaenau Ffestiniog.
