Superb late 19th.c. dinner gong or bell on stand c.1890. Heavy bronze bell, 11″ diameter at base with original hanging clapper inside. Hung on a splendid 17th.c. style oak stand with lion’s masks either side of a carved frieze, over an arch apron and raised on fluted supports and large paw feet front and rear. With a large oak ball head clapper used to ring the bell. Very good tone and long sustain (at least 10 seconds). Excellent condition, the stand has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
