Diana Pullinger (British, 20th Century)

Bahamian Dancers
Signed in pencil, D. Pullinger /56 (bottom right)
Pencil and watercolour on paper
Pullinger travelled to The Bahamas from the UK in the 1930s. Her famous screens, painted in 1957, depict the significant ages and social development of the islands since the arrival of Columbus. Divided into six parts — the Age of Discovery, The Lost Century, The Age of Colonization, The Age of Piracy, The Age of Emancipation and The Age of Development — the murals are one of the country’s earliest histories, and have been praised both for their intricate detail and narrative accuracy.
The Bahamas Historical Society published a booklet illustrating the work of Diana Pullinger in 'The History of the Bahamas in Pictures' with text by Peter Lawlor, Pub 2012 PAYMENT OPTIONS
