Large Mahogany pedestal writing desk, French, circa 1880.
This delightful writing desk stands on shallow bun feet and dismantles into three sections for transporting. The desk is figured Mahogany with brass mouldings and beadings. The Mahogany is a rich colour, and the entire desk retains a superb mellow antique patination.
This desk is in excellent condition. It's solid and very smart, ideal for home or professional office. It measures 57 inches long and 31 inches deep. The knee hole space is very generous at 24 ins by 24 ins
There are 9 smoothly running oak lined drawers with working keys. The black leather top is a fine quality replacement. At the ends of the desk there are pullout sections, both with new leathers fitted.
At the rear of the desk is a "Vanity panel", for room centre positioning. The entire desk has been thoroughly checked, lightly refurbished where needed and finally wax polished to show off the beauty of the mahogany. Shown here in best showroom condition.
