Crosby & Sons Victorian Aesthetic Dining Chairs
A set of six walnut and ebonised dining chairs in the Aesthetic Movement style and dating to the late Victorian period. All chairs are stamped by the manufacturer R. Crosby & Sons Liverpool, who advertised as a "first class chair maker" in The Furniture Gazette of 1882. They operated at 8 Cases Street and 63 Great George Street with works at 56 & 58 Rathbone Street and showrooms at 9a Elliot Street. The shaped cresting rails of the chair backs feature boxwood and burr walnut marquetry panels and also incised decoration. The bow fronted seats are raised on turned tapered and fluted forelegs. The non-sprung seats are all entirely traditionally re-upholstered from the frame by The Sitting Place. They are then covered in Meadow Fruit fabric (charcoal and green colourway) by GP&J Baker. These high quality and decorative dining chairs would look lovely in a dining room setting decorated in the Aesthetic period style.
Where applicable, our upholstered items of stock are fully newly traditionally re-upholstered in-house using only traditional materials and no foam so as to be in-keeping with the age of the piece as an antique.

Returns policy
There is a right to cancel an order from the moment the order is placed to The Sitting Place up to 14 days from the day the item is delivered/received. In the unlikely event that the customer/buyer is not pleased with a purchase made from The Sitting Place, the item in question may be returned. Notification of a return to The Sitting Place is to be made by the customer by email or by phone on +44(0)7341770324.
The item needs to be returned within a further 14 days to The Sitting Place and in the condition the item was received and suitable for re-sale. The customer is to take reasonable care and ensure that the item is well protected when returning the item. The customer is informed that a deduction of the refund will be made to cover for delivery cost to complete the return of the item(s) (unless otherwise agreed). A further reduction of the refund can be made by The Sitting Place if the value of the item has been reduced as a result of the customer handling the item more than was necessary or as a result of the item being soiled and/or damaged.
The return of the item will be arranged by The Sitting Place. Refunds will be made to the customer/buyer, within 14 days of The Sitting Place receiving the returned item(s). Returns cannot be made for items purchased from outside the United Kingdom.
It is brought to the customer's/buyer's attention that the items sold by The Sitting Place are antique and hence the wood will have some wear commensurate with age.
